chiletemple.jpgIllumined by creative inspiration from what is to become the Temple of Light in Chile, Sergio Ortiz, a Bahá'í from San Juan, Puerto Rico, wrote this poem after attending his community's reflection meeting and witnessing a compelling presentation about the future Mashriqu'l-Adhkár.

The Silent Beauty of a Mother Bee

It was from the core of the earth

That His heavenly waters raised to the sky

Like an ocean flooding hearts.

Had it not been for His eternal fishing net,

Countless would have perished.

His salvation, a divine plan,

Was our most precious gift.

It stands as a mother

With the silent beauty of a bee

With a two-fold mission; to germinate

New flowers for His sacred garden,

And pledge alliance to every son He has ever had.

Come, wade in the ocean of His word,

And learn about the meaning of water.

Ortiz also included the following prayer by Bahá'u'lláh in Mapuche and in English:

¡Awen Nünéchen!  ¡Awen Nünéchen!

Trükó femtuné kom Tami pu

kona ñi piuké ka pelomtu femtuñe

tami füchá ñülám.  Inaletuaiñün tami

feipín, ka yamtuaiñün tami ñünézuñ u.

Kellutuñe, awem Nünéchen, tañi

Bahá'u'lláh

O my God! O my God! Unite the hearts of Thy

servants, and reveal to them Thy great purpose.

May they follow Thy commandments and abide in

Thy law.  Help them, O God, in their endeavor, and

grant them strength to serve Thee. O God, leave

them not to themselves, but guide their steps by the

light of Thy knowledge and cheer their hearts by Thy love.

Verily, Thou art their Helper and their Lord.

Bahá'u'lláh
