It was an unusually hot October day in Omaha, Nebraska, when the Bahá'í community decided to host their very own Chilean Temple cook-off fundraiser.

This cluster wide event was attended by nearly 80 Baha'is from the surrounding communities and was equipped with an assortment of delicious food, including over nine kinds of chili, baked potatoes covered in chili, chili dogs, and warm fry bread. This unifying event brought together adults and children in the community in a joint effort and collaboration, with the adults preparing the meals while the children decorated tables.

The evening of festivities also included an awards ceremony, celebrating the efforts of all the cooks with awards such as "Kid Choice Chili," "Most Savory Chili," "Most Beany Chili," and more. The friends managed to raise $650 for the Temple of Light while showing a video of the Temple's design on repeat, and displaying photos of Nebraskan pioneers in Chile as further inspiration. One of the event organizers, Melissa Cleaver, summed up the experience with the following, "All in all the Chilean Temple Fundraiser illuminated our hearts and warmed our souls," reminding us all that we can each do our part to help build the Temple of Light.
